Four new selection indexes for the Australian Limousin Breeders’ Society have been released in conjunction with the November 2020 Southern Limousin BREEDPLAN analysis. The new indexes are the:

• Domestic Maternal Index
• Export Maternal Index
• Northern Export Index
• Yearling Prime Index

The four new selection indexes will replace the previous Australian Limousin selection indexes and were developed by Australian Limousin in conjunction with staff from Southern Beef Technology Services (SBTS) at the Agricultural Business Research Institute (ABRI). Two of the new indexes are designed for Limousin animals in self-replacing production systems while two are for Limousin used in terminal production systems. Within the self-replacing/terminal classifications, the indexes are further differentiated on the basis of target market specifications/age.
