New Accuracy Calculation Software for Single-Step BREEDPLAN Analyses
Implementation December 2022 – January 2023
Dec 2022As the volume and density of genomic information used in BREEDPLAN evaluations continues to grow, it has highlighted the need for a more efficient way to better account for SNP effects in the calculation of EBV accuracy. An advanced algorithm for accuracy calculations has now been developed. This is scheduled to be implemented over the period of December 2022 and January 2023 for all clients (as shown below) currently using the Single-Step BREEDPLAN model:
Analysis |
Breed Societies |
Angus Single-Step BREEDPLAN |
Angus Australia & New Zealand Angus Association |
Brahman Single-Step BREEDPLAN |
Australian Brahman Breeders’ Association |
Hereford Single-Step BREEDPLAN |
Herefords Australia, New Zealand Hereford Association & Hereford Cattle Breeders Society of Namibia |
Santa Gertrudis Single-Step BREEDPLAN |
Santa Gertrudis Breeders Association |
Wagyu Single-Step BREEDPLAN |
Australian Wagyu Association |
While changes in accuracy might be observed for certain traits and for certain individual animals, this enhancement to the analytical software will ensure that BREEDPLAN continues to make the best use all sources of information involved in the calculation of accuracy.
